Help with Energy
I notice there are a number of items around like Energy +12 Energy Regeneration -1, energy +15 Energy Regeneration -1 etc etc... Is the extra pool of energy really worth losing the degen over?

It depends on your class. I am a E/N and it does matter. I run out of energy really quick. Even with Energy storage(Elementalist Primary Attribute). I can't cast spells without energy so i need to run.

Oh right, haha, Mo/Me but I don't even use any Me spells yet besides Remove Hex, need to advance a bit. ***EDIT*** I'm a Protector/Healer, forgot how big of a difference the order makes.. I specialize in Protecting from Death, and Heal when necessary. Only healing I ever use is breeze and orison of healing. The rest is Protection.

I am an Elementalist, and I had an energy +15, Regen -1 fire wand, and I noticed that I had better mana without it. I would say that it isn't worth it, but some people will probably say otherwise.

you put the energy item in a weapon slot and quickswitch to it when you run out of energy...then quickswitch back to get your regen levels...it allows you to cast one more heal...or one more firestorm...or one more whatever before you die.

I don't die. I'm a bigger tank than any warrior I've encountered on Guild Wars.

I'd say that it is not worth it in general, but having a focus with a large boost in energy in a backup weapon slot is very useful. This means that you can always get a bit of energy for a few quick casts at a critical moment.

Your gaining 15en, but losing 1 pip of regen. So where is your breakeven point? It takes 1 pip of energy regen 45sec to give 15en, so if a fight lasts more than 45 seconds, your losing potential energy. So for short, active fights (vs. spike builds, etc.) it can be nice to have your energy up front, for more drawn out fights its better to have the regen. (All in my opinion)
My solution was to have a +en -regen setup as a swap set. |

It's different for me.. I am RELIED on... It's not the same with an Elementalist. I've tested this a few times, mostly by snobby players that think they "p\/\/n" the whole game... So I decide to let them try fighting on their own without my help. I get made fun of, flamed at, cursed at, called every word in the book... Until suddenly.. The rest of the party dies :O awwww. Haha. After the immature players call me a noob because they died a few times and leave, I come and resurrect the mature players and continue on with just them.
This seemed like a pointless story, but what I was trying t get across was, I'm vital to the party, and I require energy at all times, even if only 5 for Shielding Hands. Taking all of that into consideration, is it worth it now? |

I'm using this for PvE right now, actually. And I'm not too far with the monk yet because unlike most people I don't rush any of my characters, I'd rather enjoy the game. But anyways... I had an idea to put the +en-regen on switch, so that during battle I have a bigger pool, then inbetween battles switch to whatever else to regenerate it back. (And yes, your idea about the duration of the battles is very logical, I thought about that myself but I didn't know where to draw the line between worth it and not. Most of my battles at this point last under 45 sec, I think. This sound logical? (((Sorry for double post))) Last edited by Dahl; Jul 11, 2005 at 03:28 PM // 15:28.. |
